Massage helps to speed healing after Hip Replacement

Earlier, I got a text from a client who had hip replacement surgery around 8 am today. In order to prepare for this surgery, we began doing Pre-Op Massage Therapy about 2 weeks ago.

This client comes in 2 times a month, on a regular basis, to help increase flexibility, reduce stiffness and improve overall well-being.  In preparation for hip surgery, the client added an additional session for the month.

Today, the same day of surgery, this 80 year old ROCK STAR is home, and there was NO hospital stay! I was so happy to hear this news!

Massage Therapy can be used to improve many health and wellness concerns, and that includes surgery!  I’m glad my client spoke to his doctor about using Massage Therapy to help prepare for surgery.  His doctor thought it was a great idea and said that he had never had a client use Massage Therapy to prep for surgery.  So in addition to my client being a ROCK STAR, he is also a trend setter!

In his text to me, my client made it very clear that he was at home, recovering and that he thought Pre-Op Massage Therapy helped his current post surgical condition.

Hand Held Massagers aka Massage Guns are Great, BUT…

Handheld massagers (aka massage guns, massage devices, etc.) are GREAT, but they can’t take the place of a properly trained and experienced Licensed Massage Therapist who is skilled in pain relief massage.

I think these massage devices are effective at reducing muscle tension and increasing circulation, and I even use them in my own Massage Therapy practice, but they can NOT take the place of a Licensed Massage Therapist who is trained and experienced in providing pain relief massage.

A massage gun is a tool, like a hammer.  In the hands of a skilled craftsperson, a hammer can be used to build an effective shelter from the elements, but in the hands of an unskilled person, it really doesn’t do much!  It is the skill and the experience of the person holding the tool that makes all the difference.

Handheld massages are tools that can help the average person get relief from minor aches and pains in the privacy of their own home, but they have limits. Using a massage gun on a sensitive area, like your neck, is dangerous and not advised. If you have neck pain, it would be a better idea to see a Licensed Massage Therapist that is skilled in pain relief massage, than to use a handheld massager on your neck.

Handheld massagers are great for caring for small, painful areas of your body, that you can reach. If you’re experiencing pain that is impacting your ability to move or you’re experiencing pain in an area that you can’t reach, or an area that is dangerous for you to address with a massager, it might be time to seek out the assistance of a Licensed Massage Therapy who is skilled in pain relief massage.

Massage Therapy: Why it’s so AWESOME!

Massage Therapy is a Complementary and Integrative Healthcare modality that involves the manipulation of soft tissue in the body.

Massage Therapy is a drug free way for people to reduce their pain, reduce stress and improve their over all well-being!

In the state of Texas, Massage Therapy is performed by Licensed Massage Therapists.  Licensed Massage Therapists, in the state of Texas, must complete a 500 hour state approved course of study, which includes the study of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, health, hygiene and professional business practices.  They must also perform at lease a 50-hour internship and pass a licensing exam.

Massage Therapy is NOT sex work! We do not provide Massage Therapy for sexual purposes.  Many people automatically associate touch with sex, a Massage Therapist does not! Massage Therapy is a touch therapy (aka hands on therapy) that can help to increase circulation, reduce muscle tightness, increase lymphatic drainage, increases range of motion, activates the para-sympathetic nervous system and improve overall well-being.  These benefits make Massage Therapy an effective complement to many treatment plans for health and wellness concerns that people manage on a daily basis.

As a Licensed Massage Therapist that specializes in working with pain and dysfunction, I have successfully worked with clients with the following health and wellness concerns: Neck Pain, Shoulder Pain, Low Back Pain, Knee Pain, Constipation, Sciatic Nerve Impingement, Scoliosis, Post Surgical Scars, Post Surgical Swelling, Post Surgical Fluid Retention, Anxiety, Grief, Peripheral Edema, Fibromyalgia, Lymphoreticulosis (Cat Scratch Disease), Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson’s Disease, Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis), Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Endometriosis, Multiple Sclerosis, Peripheral Neuropathy, Plantar Fasciitis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS), Rotator Cuff Pain, Whiplash, Cancer and Improving Flexibility.

Massage Therapy is AWESOME because it’s not just for relaxation. Massage Therapy is an effective, drug free, Complementary and Integrative Healthcare modality that helps clients to manage their health and wellness concerns. Every Licensed Massage Therapist is educated, trained and tested to help ensure you are working with a professional who provides effective and professional Massage Therapy.

Not every Massage Therapist works with clients/patients who ONLY want to relax.  Some Massage Therapist, like me, use spa techniques and Clinical Massage Therapy to provide care that not only helps the client to manage their pain and dysfunction, but to also helps them to relax.

If you’re in the Grand Prairie, TX area and are looking for a Licensed Massage Therapist that can help you to relax AND reduce your pain and dysfunction, visit my website at https://KevaMack.com to book an appointment for Massage Therapy or a Telehealth: Service Consultation.

Massage Therapy helps client “Get her sexy back!”

Recently, one of my clients came in for a Massage Therapy appointment. Her energy was WAY lower than normal. This particular client is usually high energy and happy-go-lucky.  Imagine my surprise when I saw her like this!

When I asked her what had her down, she said she had been suffering with pain in her left leg for about three months. She had been released from Physical Therapy and was looking to use Massage Therapy to further assist in her recovery.

We sat down and talked about the pain she had been experiencing, her doctor’s diagnosis and the Physical Therapy she had received. Based on that conversation, I created a Massage Therapy treatment plan, which included Table Thai Massage.

At the end of the session, my client got off the table, sat down in a chair to put on her shoes, sat up after putting on her shoes and proclaimed, “Look, I can cross my legs! I haven’t been able to do that in while. Ooh, you helped me get my sexy back!”, with a big smile on her face. Of course, I burst out laughing because THIS is the energy I was use to seeing! This made my heart happy and it helped me love, appreciate and respect Massage Therapy just a little bit more.

That client left my office, “switching” and laughing, which made me laugh and smile, even more.

That client indeed had her sexy back, after a 60 minute session! I can’t imagine how she’ll feel after we complete her Massage Therapy Treatment plan!

If you’re in pain and would like to see if Massage Therapy can help you to reduce your pain and improve your overall well-being, I may be able to help.
